Top Young Chefs In America Face Off At Fourth Annual Forbes Under 30 Summit Food Festival, October 3, Boston

BOSTON (September 13, 2017)— Forbes announced today the initial lineup of chefs who will face off in a competition as part of the fourth annual Forbes Under 30 Summit Food Festival, taking place in Boston on October 3 from 6-10 pm at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. The food festival is part of the 2017 Forbes Under 30 Summit, which will run October 1-4, featuring many notable young chefs in America as culled from Forbes’ 30 Under 30 lists.

The cook-off will be judged by Chef and Restaurateur Daniel Boulud; Founder of the South Beach Wine & Food Festival Lee Schrager; and Forbes magazine editor Randall Lane.  Attendees of the Forbes Under 30 Summit will be able to participate in a public vote.

Young chefs and chocolatiers from both the U.S. and Europe will compete for America’s Best Young Chef awards in two categories – the Judges’ Choice and Audience Choice.

Forbes 30 Under 30 honorees competing in the cook-off include:

  • Andrew Chmielewski, Founder, Dave’s Sweet Tooth (Ferndale, MI)
  • Alexandra Clark, Founding Chocolatier, Bon Bon Bon (Detroit)
  • Simon Davies, Chef de Cuisine, Alinea (Chicago)
  • Zachary Engel, Chef de Cuisine, Shaya Restaurant (New Orleans)
  • Kelvin Fernandez, Executive Chef, La Marina (New York) – defending 2016 “America’s Best Young Chef – Audience Choice” winner
  • Andrew Gonzalez, Founder, Night Owl Cookie (Miami)
  • Henry Herbert, TV Personality, The Fabulous Baker Brothers (United Kingdom) – defending 2016 “America’s Best Young Chef – Judge’s Choice” winner
  • Christian Pettersen, Head Chef, Mondo (Norway)
  • Kwame Onwuachi, Chef & Owner, The Shaw Bijou (Washington, DC)

The food festival is open only to holders of VIP and all-access passes to the 2017 Forbes Under 30 Summit.

Coinciding with the food festival is the “Sounds of Boston” event, a food and music celebration for Forbes Under 30 Summit attendees, which will take place on October 3, 6-10 pm, at the Forbes Under 30 Village in City Hall Plaza. The celebration will include food trucks from local food vendors and live music performed by local bands.

Convening 200 world-class speakers – including investors, celebrities, musicians, fashion designers, sports stars, cultural icons, world-renowned chefs, educators, and political and business leaders, all of whom represent the entrepreneurial spirit of the Forbes Under 30 franchise – the Forbes Under 30 Summit serves as the definitive place to learn, network, collaborate, recruit and exchange ideas of the future.
